Diablo 4‘s Season of Infernal Chaos hits the nail on the head with its title, as gameplay has flipped the script compared to previous seasons. While Chaos Rifts and Chaos Waves spice up the difficulty of activities like Helltides and Infernal Hordes, Diablo 4 Season 10 builds also get a chaotic treatment thanks to Chaos Perks and Chaos Armor changing the way players approach buildcrafting. Out of all the possible builds this season, one stands above the other as the ultimate embodiment of chaos, making full use of these new features to create an overwhelming, unpredictable powerhouse.
The Necromancer is typically a reliable class to play each Diablo 4 season, boasting at least one S-Tier build, regardless of the seasonal mechanics or balance changes. While some Diablo 4 players will want to avoid one Necromancer build, another is ideal for those really looking to get into the chaotic spirit in Season 10. Shadowblight Necromancers have all the tools necessary to create a strong, satisfying playstyle that stacks damage upon damage for a chaotic mess of a build.
Diablo 4's Best Shadowblight Necromancer Build is as Chaotic as Season 10 Itself
The standard playstyle of the Shadowblight Necromancer is to utilize several skills to stack instances of Shadow damage to proc the Shadowblight Key Passive. Shadowblight infects enemies hit with Shadow damage, dealing 200% damage every 8th time a Shadowblight-affected enemy takes Shadow damage, meaning players will want to be hitting foes with Shadow skills as often as possible. While in the past, the type of playstyle was a safe, if not somewhat boring, way to slay the demons of Sanctuary, but Diablo 4 Season 10 makes this build more exciting with its use of Chaos Perks and Chaos Armor to add a much faster-paced method of stacking Shadow damage.
Players Will Want to Invest in the Standard Shadowblight Necromancer Skills
- Blight
- Decrepify
- Corpse Tendrils
- Corpse Explosion
- Soulrift
Blight is an important Core skill on the standard Shadowblight Necromancer build, but plays a slightly different role in Season 10 thanks to this build’s preferred Chaos Perks. What is more important for this build is Soulrift, the Necromancer’s Ultimate skill of choice here, which acts as the primary trigger for Shadowblight’s damage potential. Corpse Tendrils becomes useful for grouping enemies together, while Decrepify is necessary to slow enemies and reduce their damage output. Corpse Explosion contributes to the Shadow damage output as well with the Blighted Corpse Explosion variant.
Chaos Perks Live Up to Their Name on this Build
The cornerstone of this build is the Necromancer’s new Alter the Balance Unique Chaos Perk, which completely changes how two skills on this build are used. Alter the Balance flips how Core and Ultimate skills function, allowing the player to cast their Ultimate as a Core skill with no cooldown but at the cost of 70 Essence, while Core skills no longer cost Essence, but have a 30-second cooldown. As such, players can spam Soulrift for a powerful source of Shadow damage to constantly proc Shadowblight, while Blight will need to be used more sparingly in turn.
This build can also greatly benefit from the Fists of Fate Chaos Unique to give Soulrift the chance to deal 360% damage, with this chance increasing thanks to the Necromancer’s newfound ability to spam their Ultimate skill.
Shadowblight Necromancers May Have the Most Chaotic Screens in Diablo 4 Season 10 with this Build
What makes this build so chaotic is the visual effects that will constantly be on screen due to Soulrift being spammed. As an Ultimate skill, Soulrift isn’t typically meant to be spammed over and over, so Alter the Balance creates a situation where the player’s screen will be filled with the effects of Soulrift constantly for a messy yet powerful combat loop. Add to this the Ebonpiercer as Chaos Armor, and players will additionally deal projectiles whenever Blight is cast to create even more AoE chaos.
With the right setup, this build can make short work of Diablo 4‘s toughest endgame content, such as the Pit of the Artificer. While there is an element of randomness to achieving the optimal damage output with the Fists of Fate on top of the 200% damage increase from the 8th Shadow damage stack on Shadowblight-affected enemies, players can still expect a consistent line of damage through the chaos of Diablo 4 Season 10.
